User Administration

The CMS Administration User Administrarion menu is the location for all administrative functions that are related to managing users and user rights. When you click on the menu link, you will be presented with the following menu:

In this menu, the following options are available (depending on your user rights):

Administrators

The Administrators module lists all users that have either webmaster or administrator level. The module allows you to make other users a webmaster, or to assign adminitrative rights (access to one or more of the options in one of them CMS administration panels) to users.

Blacklist

Unfortunately, sometimes you have to block users or groups of users from accessing your website. Using the Blacklist module you can block access based on IP address or partial IP address, email address or domain name.

Optionally, you can specify a reason for blacklisting the IP or domain. Users that try to access the site or register for an account will see a message that access is blocked, and the reason for blocking.

Members

The Members option gives you a list of all member accounts of your website. From the Members list you can disable or delete a member account.

• Note that when a member has created any articles or news items, posted comments or rated a posting, posted in a forum or send a private message, the member account is deactivated, but not deleted, to preserve the members creations. Deactivated accounts are invisible for your site visitors, but still present. That means that you can not register a new account with the same name as a deactivated account. Deactivated accounts can be activated again.

From the Members list you can also edit the profile of every member, or create a new member account manually.

User Activation

If you have specified in the security settings that want to use email verification for registration, or that new users need to be manually activated by a webmaster, new member accounts will be created with a status "awaiting activation". These accounts can be viewed using the User Activation module, where an administrator can manually activate them, or delete the activation request.

User Groups

Within ExiteCMS, lots of rights are assigned to groups instead of to individual users. The User Groups module allows you to create groups and assign members to a group, remove members from a group. You can also assign groups to other groups.

Each group has a name and a description, and you can specify if the group name is visible under the users name in the forums, and/or visible in the user profile. This allows you to create security groups that are internal, not visible to your visitors. For groups that are visible in the forums, you can optionally specify an HTML color code used to display the group name.

You can also assign administrative rights (access to one or more of the modules in the CMS Administration menu) to a group, making all members assigned to the group an administrator.
